The Deinonychus dinosaur had a large, curved talon on the second toe of each foot – its name means ‘terrible claw’. Deinonychus was a small, meat-eating theropod that lived in North America around 115-108 million years ago in the early Cretaceous. This realistic replica brings the prehistoric era to life very convincingly!

The Deinonychus dinosaur was a close relative of the Velociraptor. The first Deinonychus fossils were found in Montana, North America in 1964 and published five years later. The discovery changed opinions among palaeontologists. They realised that dinosaurs were not just slow, lumbering, cold-blooded beasts, but could also be fast, warm-blooded animals (read more about Deinonychus here).
The Deinonychus Dinosaur Sculpture is approximately 2.8m long and 1.3m high.
