Deinonychus – ferocious dinosaur sculpture
The dinosaur’s name, Deinonychus, means “terrible claw,” due to the distinctive, sickle-shaped talons on its hind feet used for climbing, hunting or capturing prey (read more here).
Primarily found in western North America, the Deinonychus may have hunted in packs. Some evidence suggests it had feathers, used for display and heat regulation rather than flying.
This ferocious dinosaur shares many features with the Velociraptor, another smallish, agile carnivorous dinosaur.
