The Texel breed’s name comes from the Isle of Texel in Holland. Texel sheep were introduced to Australia in the 1980s and have adapted well to local conditions.
This life-sized Texel ewe sculpture has its head down, grazing peacefully. The sculpture is suitable for agriculture displays, farmyard-themed events, country stores, veterinary businesses and educational exhibits.
Texels come from northern Europe and have been bred and adapted to suit New Zealand and Australian conditions. As well as being high-yielding sheep, the Australian Texel are capable of travelling distances (read more from the Australian Texel Stud Breeders Association).
