Bats and flying foxes hanging from their feet look amazing in caves or themed exhibits. Some people connect bats with Dracula and rabies, but bats are quite amazing creatures. For example, did you know that many plants rely on bats to pollinate their flowers?
Bats are the only mammals able to fly. A single brown bat can catch around 1,200 mosquito-sized insects in one hour.
Bats don’t see very well at night so they rely on other navigational methods. They send out beeps and listen for variations in the echoes that bounce back. Bats are nocturnal, because it’s easier to hunt bugs and avoid predators when it’s dark. However, bats do use their eyesight to see things in the daytime.
