About the Sculpture

Natureworks Studio in Highvale, Brisbane, artisans embarked on crafting a Custom Sulphur Crested Cockatoo Sculpture standing an impressive 2 meters tall. The meticulous process began with the creation of an internal steel armature, providing structural support for the sculpture. Hessian and wire were then layered over the armature, forming a sturdy foundation for the intricate details.

Once the armature was covered, spray foam was applied to the surface to provide texture and dimension. Using foam, artisans sculpted the fine details of the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, including sculpting the claws open to allow for the sculpture to be perched on a round horizontal log post. This attention to detail not only enhances the sculpture’s realism but also ensures its practicality in its intended display.

As the sculpture took shape, artisans painted it by hand, carefully applying layers of paint to capture the vibrant plumage of the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. This bird species holds significant cultural and ecological significance in Australia, being native to the region and symbolizing the unique and diverse Australian habitat.

The sculpture features open sculpted claws, allowing for easy perching on a round horizontal log post, enhancing its practicality and versatility in display options.

The completed sculpture serves as a stunning representation of Australia’s natural beauty and the intricate relationship between its wildlife and habitat. Installed at the Mosmon Hotel, it stands tall and proud, paying homage to the beauty of nature and the skill of its creators at Natureworks Studio.
