Coral reef aquarium habitat enclosures for Shark Bay at Sea World on the Gold Coast
Shark Bay was built by the Natureworks team for Sea World in 2003. We created a wildlife aquarium habitat enclosure with artificial rockwork and coral.
The formed rockwork was constructed over six months, creating rock-like habitats for the shark and pelagic oceanarium, as well as the coral reef habitat tank. We fabricated over 10,000 artificial corals to complete the coral bommie diving lagoons, along with kelps, giant clams and numerous soft corals.
An immersive visitor experience
The immersive diving habitat was created to allow the public to swim freely in a rich coral reef environment. This is literally an immersive experience!
The public could also get close to live marine organisms via shallow touch pools or view the sharks and marine life through glass in the aquarium.
