The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium (or Oceanarium) includes a 168-metre tunnel that takes visitors through a coastal reef, the open ocean, a kelp cave, a shark cove and a coral reef. It is one of the longest such tunnels in the world. Visitors also walk through several exhibit zones including the China Zone, South America Zone, Africa Zone, Australia Zone and others.
The project involved a complete themed fit-out for the ocean aquarium. All artificial trees, vines and scenery display items were custom-made on-site. We even made Aztec temples. With typical attention to detail, Natureworks employed an aboriginal artist who was commissioned to paint aboriginal petroglyphs on the sandstone walls of the Kakadu billabong scene.
