X marks the spot for a pirate-themed playground treasure dig

This modular jigsaw style Pirate treasure dig reveals hidden pirate booty as children uncover each section

Natureworks recently completed the ultimate pirate’s treasure dig which has “fossilised” a vast collection of pirate paraphernalia into a sunken matrix of consolidated pirate feature elements within 5 separate adjoining fibreglass modules. The stone cross is the centre of the dig and remains above the surrounding ground level. It is raised about 45cm above ground level and features a very cute pirate parrot who is spilling the beans that it has found the treasure!

Features:

  • It is designed to complement pirate playgrounds
  • The overall combination of the 5 separate sections enables the use of smaller pirate digs to be incorporated into smaller spaces if required.
  • Any combination of 1,2,3,4 or 5 & Centre Flag Pole with Parrot is as an additional extra.
  • The fibreglass piece can also be connected to a vertical wall to provide a very visual pirate storyline, whereas the dig will generally be always partially covered with sand.
  • Children use bannister brushes to discover the spectacular collection of Natureworks Pirate treasure décor collected over David’s lifetime of hoarding the bizarre.
  • The overall feature is approx. 3 metres long and 2.50 metres wide and includes:-
  • X marks the spot central section – sign signpost and parrot as an additional extra
  • Note that customers can purchase the entire Pirate treasure dig or a combination of your choice.

These treasures dig includes

Dig 1 – Anchor & Jewels

  • Ships anchor, ringlet of gold skulls, mast section of timber, spare leg and hip bone, triple pulley, chains and cutlass, treasure, chest keys, golden wine goblets, giant cut diamonds and pieces of eight.
  • Imagine – Captain Flint’s rusty anchor finally emerges from the shifting sands, its flukes clinging to barnacles and bits of chain. Young explorers brush away grains of sand to reveal a ringlet of gold skull charms—tokens from the captain’s first raid. A broken mast timber, still bearing the marks of ancient rope, lies next to a spare pirate leg bone. As hands uncover a gleaming cutlass and a set of treasure-chest keys, the children imagine Flint’s secret map scratched into the wood. Nearby, golden wine goblets catch the sunlight, and enormous cut diamonds sparkle—proof that the captain’s curse never claimed all his bounty.

Dig 2 – Parrot & Pearls

  • The main treasure chest is full of pearls, ingots and pieces of 8 gold chains, doubloons, a sword, a starfish, a turtle shell, a ship lantern, quartz crystals, bronze starfish and sea horses, pirates pistol, old locks, giant fossil great white shark tooth, tobacco tin, deceased parrot/macaw.
  • Imagine – Once the anchor’s secrets have been uncovered, the next portion of the sandy cave reveals the beloved pirate’s parrot—its skeleton & features frozen in a final squawk. Tiny pearls roll free from its perch as brave hands reveal the main treasure chest, overflowing with lustrous pearls, heavy gold ingots, and tangled golden chains. Doubloons glint beside a well-worn sword, while a starfish and turtle shell decorate the chest’s rim. An old ship’s lantern and quartz crystals lie half-buried, hinting at moonlit voyages, and a battered tobacco tin speaks of long nights at sea. The discovery of a giant shark tooth fossil completes the scene—a chilling reminder of the perils the crew once faced.

Dig 3 – Skeleton & Treasure Chest

  • The pirate skeleton lays next to his bottle of rum, His pet monkey and crow skeleton still swigging on their mini bottles, A silver scarab beetle and a mini Treasure chest, pistol and quartz crystals. Shrunken skull heads, sand dollars, his pirate hook hand and pieces of eight, silver seahorse and Aladdin’s lamp.
  • Imaging- At the heart of this section of the dig lays the sea-weathered skeleton of Captain Flint himself—lying next to his bottle of rum in his bony hand. His faithful monkey and crow skeletons peer out, each holding a tiny rum flask as though to share in the captain’s eternal celebration. Nearby, a silver scarab beetle shimmers like a forgotten relic of distant lands. Hidden beneath the sand, a miniature treasure chest, a flintlock pistol, and raw quartz crystals tempt treasure hunters onward. Shrunken skull heads grin mischievously, sand dollars rest like tokens of the deep, and the captain’s hooked hand lies waiting to grasp new fortunes. Pieces of eight, a silver seahorse, and even Aladdin’s enchanted lamp hint that fantasy and fortune converge here.

  • Imagine –With a clatter of metal, children’s brushes reveal a battered ship’s cannon—its bore blackened by centuries of powder. Cannonballs nestle nearby, waiting to be liberated from their sandy graves. A cluster of shells spills forth with a pearly glimmer: a clamshell filled with pearls and a golden doubloon. Paua shells reflect rainbow hues, while a gilded octopus and a skull-and-crossbones medallion whisper of undersea battles. Tiny goblets, a jagged pirate’s dagger, and a bronze Buddha skull reveal that plundered treasures came from every corner of the world. A silver seahorse reclines next to a jewelled goblet, reminding adventurers that every relic tells a story of distant oceans and hidden coves.

There are various suggestions on how to install this Treasure dig, depending on the location and preferences:-

  1. If attaching to a concrete slab – Steel angle plates can be attached to the individual sections then they can be dyna-bolted or chem-set into the concrete to  secure it in place. This prevents the dig from movement and theft. Keeping in mind that the dig will be burred under deep sand. – Or
