In folklore, nutcrackers are seen as protectors against evil as well as a magnet for good luck. At one point, they became associated with Christmas and were given as gifts to children during the holiday.

Toymakers carved nutcrackers from wood and painted them by hand. But since most gifts are now electronic, nutcrackers have been relegated as decorative items for the Christmas season. These figurines adorn Christmas trees or line up bookshelves and cabinets. Big ones stand beside Christmas trees, serving as guardians for the toys the children will open on the big day. People also love to collect different kinds and sizes of nutcrackers.

Nutcracker statues are usually depicted as soldiers wearing a military uniform and hat, as well as a cool moustache on its face. This small-sized nutcracker sports golden curly hair hidden under his shako and the same coloured moustache on its face. It also comes in a bigger size.
