Ever wondered why a Nutcracker’s mouth has a weird shape? Well, that’s because its mouth used to do just as its name suggests — crack open nuts.

According to an old folk tale in Germany, a puppet maker won a nut-cracking contest by creating a doll with a large mouth to open nuts in. The design has since been passed on to what it looks like today. Another belief is that nutcrackers bring their bearer good fortune. It became a popular gift for children during Christmas.

Whatever the case, nutcrackers have now become an iconic part of the Yuletide season in modern times. Several people collect nutcrackers while others never fail to include them in Christmas decorations, as an ornament, a mantle display, or as larger-than-life setups in commercial establishments.

This eight-foot fiberglass statue of a Nutcracker statue would be great for Holiday designs with large decorations. It comes in a blue military uniform but is also available in red.
