Nutcrackers are traditionally given as gifts. They may look like cool toys for kids to play with, but according to German folklore, they protect homes and the people inside it from evil and invite luck to enter instead.

Now, they’re more decorative and less functional. Some versions include the toys wearing grand uniforms with props like sceptres, crowns, and even rifles. Aside from soldier nutcrackers, other versions include royalty, musicians, common folks, and even celebrities.

Areas with wide-open spaces and high ceilings are perfect for larger-than-life holiday decorations like huge Christmas trees, giant gifts, and jaw-dropping toys. Add one or two ten-foot soldier nutcrackers to guard the Christmas tree and presents. Not to mention they look awesome and cool!
