Aside from storing gifts under the Christmas tree, hanging a stocking on the fireplace has also become a tradition that every child would want to follow. After all, they get small trinkets on Christmas day from Santa Claus.

Of course, it’s the parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents, or other adults who top up their stockings but they don’t know that. They bring smiles to children’s faces while Santa Claus gets the credit. But bringing joy to any child is a blessing, especially during the Yuletide season.

This tradition actually dates back to the 4th Century when a warm-hearted Greek bishop, St. Nicholas would give children little treats by stuffing the trinkets in their socks. He was well-known as a protector of children and went out of his way to keep them safe, well-fed, and loved.

Now, adults have kept the tradition of hanging Christmas socks on the fireplace, or on any part of the house.
