In real life, reindeers are huge mammals living in the Northern Hemisphere. Also called caribou in North America, it’s most known as the animals that pull Santa’s sleigh during Christmas eve. Unlike the real reindeers in the wild, however, the ones depicted in “A Visit From St. Nicholas” are smaller and more docile. Some people even theorize that Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, and Blitzen were actually female reindeers because of this tidbit.

Adding one or two life-like reindeers to Christmas decorations creates an even more festive atmosphere.
