Frog Hollow – educational, engaging nature play
The “Frog Hollow” concept communicates the importance of preserving wetlands to protect frogs and other amphibians. It would make an engaging nature play space for a school, childcare centre, playground, community park or botanic garden. Alternatively, the concept could promote a landscaping business or enhance a nature-themed mini-golf course.
Why is it important to learn about frogs?
Frogs are very good indicators of the environment’s health because they live on land and in water. When they get sick or disappear, things are not right in the ecosystem. The list of endangered or extinct frogs and toads around the world is continually growing. Educating people about amphibians’ role in nature is important because maintaining biodiversity is essential for natural ecosystems.
Did you know… Australia has 240 species of native amphibians, all frogs. Australia has no native toads. Cane Toads were introduced in the 1930s, causing problems for native animals that had evolved on a continent without toads (read about the difference between frogs and toads).
A playful, sensory approach
Frog Hollow is educational but also fun! It incorporates a whimsical touch, presenting frogs and their environment in an imaginative, playful manner. The sculptures may include exaggerated features, vibrant colours, and a sense of movement that makes the scene feel alive.
To boost sensory engagement, we can integrate recorded sounds of frogs’ vocal mating calls and bring the scene alive! We can also add coloured lighting or motion-activated effects. Or to spark the fertile imagination of young visitors, why not include fantasy props like giant mushrooms or imaginary creatures?
Safe, strong, versatile climb and play structures
Our giant frog sculptures are ideal for youngsters to climb on. They’re strong and durable, suitable for installation in outdoor playgrounds and water parks. For water play areas, we can add squirters and piping so the frogs have water squirting from their mouths.
The sculptures feature intricate details, from the textures of a frog’s skin to patterns on leaves and ripples on water. All our sculptures are finished to a high standard and can be made to any size, colour or coating to suit outdoor use. If required, sculptures can be built to meet formal playground certification standards.
