Bengal Tiger – Crouching statue
The Bengal tiger is a subspecies of the continental tiger found on the Asian mainland. Our Bengal tiger sculpture is shown in a crouching pose, with its muscles tense and ready to pounce. It looks slightly to the left. This is an impressive work of art that captures the beauty and power of this amazing creature.
Endangered species
The tiger is seriously endangered in the wild, being heavily hunted as a trophy throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. The Chinese passion for the bones of this animal as an aphrodisiac is still responsible for ongoing animal poaching. Protecting tigers and their habitats is essential. As the tiger is at the top of the food chain, it plays a critical role in the ecosystem and helps to maintain biodiversity.
By owning a sculpture of a Bengal tiger, you can show support for conservation efforts. For some people, owning a Bengal tiger sculpture may have a personal significance, such as representing a memory of a trip to see these majestic animals in the wild or symbolizing a particular achievement or goal.
Original sculpture commissioned by Vaughan Bullivant for Daydream Island
This lifesize crouching Bengal sculpture was sculpted in plasticine, moulded in silicone rubber and cast in fibreglass in 1996 for Vaughan Bullivant, owner of Daydream Island along with 15 other African animals which he displayed at home in his private collection. Our reconstruction of this great animal – to museum standard as a work of art – leaves traditional moth-eaten taxidermy as a bad option for replication! Natureworks animal replicas like this are sold around the world to museums, wildlife centres, businesses and private customers.
