The Meaning of Uncle Tom in history and in Bronze Aluminium finish
Two depictions of Uncle Tom have run since its inception from author Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin and one is that it is about the tragedy of heroism among African-American slaves in the 19th century and the other one is about a distorted and derogatory image of these slaves like selling out a fellow black man to gain the favour of a white master. The former faithfully conforms to the motivation behind the character in Stowe’s story which is to abolish African-American slavery while the latter has been infused into commercial mainstreams like the movie and stage industries for profit which explains why there was a surge of commercial depictions of a white folk painted in black colour mimicking a black slave for laughs.
The Uncle Tom bust in bronze aluminium finish serves to remember and impress meaning in Stowe’s intention to end African-American slavery which is still relevant up to the present day. Educate viewers with this bust displayed in educational centres, libraries, and museums.
