This giant larger-than-life-size paintbrush emphasises an artists’ palette layout of flowers at the Floriade Flower Festival in Canberra 2024. The four-week event draws crowds from all over Australia.
The purpose-built giant paintbrush was constructed as a visual centrepiece and shows how the “artist’s palette is where colours mix and blend to create unique masterpieces”. The palette is made up of beautiful colourful flowerbeds transformed into a beautiful textured artwork for all to enjoy!
Some interesting facts about the Giant Paintbrush
To build the giant paintbrush, we sculpted the paintbrush handle from polystyrene. It was then strengthened by an internal steel rod and installed on a steel mounting plate.
We prototyped and laser cut the curved acrylic layered shapes to allow light to diffuse through (this replicates the tip of the brush, and installed wiring and lights so that it could light up at night surrounded by the beautiful gardens.
