Propleopus Chillagoenis is a wolf in kangaroo clothing! This tertiary mammal is related to the living rat-kangaroos (Potoroidae) which contains many members that are omnivorous.
Propleopus is very closely related to the Musky Rat-Kangaroo – Hypsiprymaodon Mosehatus, which lives in the highland rainforest of North Queensland.
Propleopus was part of a carnivorous group of kangaroos called the Propleopine Kangaroos are from both the Pliocen and the Pleistocene.
This piece was sculpted in 1995 for the Riversleigh Fossil Interpretive Centre at Mt Isa.
