The shell of the tortoise sculpture is meticulously sculpted to replicate the textural intricacies and ridges of the actual tortoise shells, creating a lifelike and authentic appearance. Although appearing solid on the outside, a genuine Galápagos tortoise shell is composed of hollow structures resembling honeycombs. These areas contain pockets of air, contributing to a lighter weight that facilitates mobility for these creatures.
