Polar Bear Walking

Polar bears are travellers. They walk within the Arctic Circle all throughout the year, except when they give birth and take care of their cubs for about 4 months.

They can walk for up to 30 kms per day within their home ranges to forage and hunt for food all throughout the year. There have even been recorded sightings of a bear travelling over a thousand kilometres in one year. These magnificent creatures also migrate seasonally following the movement of the ice packs in their home ranges.

But while these magnificent creatures love to travel, they’re also loners. They don’t travel in packs and instead live their own lives once they’re old enough to leave their mothers.
