William the hairy nosed Wombat – Climber

William has been a very popular addition to the local playground in the town of Thallon – Queensland.

This Giant Sculpture (two metres high and 3.5 metres long) of a critically endangered Northern Hairy-Nosed Wombat.

This larger than life-size play sculpture was handcrafted in our workshop near Samford – Brisbane.

The town has a special connection to the northern hairy-nosed wombat with some of the earliest specimens found in the area.

The species is one of the world’s most endangered mammals with just 250 remaining. Let’s hope we can all bring this beautiful species back from the brink of extinction.

The aim is to ultimately help provide a closer connection with the local wildlife and grow a balanced population of hairy-nosed wombats and help protect them for a successful future.

Oversized Northern Hairy Nosed Wombat – Climber

In the town of Thallon – Queensland you can find “William the Wombat” – a giant sculpture 2m high and 3.5m long.

Some of the earliest specimens of the northern hairy-nosed wombat have been found in the local area. William has now become a welcoming attraction for tourist and the local community.

This natural history connection will continue to highlight the importance of protecting our local fauna.

The northern hairy-nosed wombat is on the critically endangered list and with the local community awareness being heightened with the installation of “William being a significant play on landmark/icon there is hope to protect the species for future generations to admire and observe their unique role and importance in creating a healthy varied landscape.
