Fibreglass Marsupial Koala
The Koala is not a bear. The Koala is a marsupial which is a mammal having a pouch like a Kangaroo. Interestingly, this adorable animal, unlike that other famous marsupial, has a pouch that opens downward and consequently, its joey also faces rearward. While it appears to be fluffy and comfortable enough to replace your bed mattress, the wool of a Koala is in fact quite coarse like that of a sheep to insulate it from elements. They have opposable “thumbs” on both hands and feet to have a better grasp on trees.
This incredible fiberglass replica of a Koala is life-size at 50 centimetres in height considering that an actual one is about 60 to 85 centimetres. It is exceedingly lighter at five kilograms than its actual counterpart weight of up to 14 kilograms and would be a wonderful piece to set up in educational and commercial spaces as a way to better conserve this adorable yet vulnerable mammal from extinction.
