Koalas primarily eat eucalyptus leaves, which provide limited nutrition and require them to sleep up to 18-22 hours a day to conserve energy
They inhabit eucalyptus forests in eastern and southeastern Australia. Their habitat is increasingly threatened by urban development, deforestation, and climate change.
Koalas are generally solitary animals but have overlapping home ranges. They communicate through vocalizations and scent markings
Female koalas typically give birth to one joey a year, which stays in the mother’s pouch for about six months before gradually becoming independent
