You may not think that trees belong inside. At Natureworks, we think differently! An artificial tree indoors can make a space seem magical and stimulate the imagination. It can provide a place for children to play, or create a sense of relaxation for a building’s occupants and visitors.
As a case in point, we recently sculpted and installed a set of four grand artificial fig trees for a school library, which has created a relaxing space for reading and an engaging environment for storytelling.
Artificial tree indoor experts
Creating artificial trees and plants, for indoor or outside use, is one of Natureworks’ specialties. We love designing and making realistic trees. The beauty of having artificial trees indoors is you can make them fit the space and ‘grow’ how you want to, all without the need to water or prune them!
We have created realistic artificial trees for:
- Adventure playgrounds
- Office buildings (e.g. Bonsai Tree Foyer Display and the Artificial Fig Tree in a waiting room)
- School libraries (e.g. Fraser Coast Anglican College Library)
- Childcare indoor play spaces (e.g. Ballarat Shopping Centre Funland)
- Hotels, clubs and resorts
- Theme parks and movie set designs
- Botanical gardens, landscape architecture projects
- Window displays and shopping centres (e.g. Tree of Life)
- Environmental and educational centres (e.g. Ipswich Environmental Centre)
- Museums and zoos, for natural habitat exhibits
- Mini golf courses
How does Natureworks make artificial trees?
Every artificial tree we make is handcrafted to suit the desired setting, using a mixture of both live and artificial materials. Depending on the location, purpose and requirements, Natureworks’ handmade creations generally include a steel armature or framework. This is combined with fibreglass, concrete or polyurethane foam, textured with bark-like material that is sculpted and hand-painted.
External tree roots can be sculpted to anchor the base, or the tree can have a hollow base to create a room for kids to play, if relevant. We will design the tree to fit within the specified space and consider practical issues such as lighting, safety, initial transport or on-site construction and maintenance.
In some cases, we use genuine bark to increase the sense of realism – it is chemically treated for preservation. To complete the piece, we add finishing natural touches such as knots, sap, seeds, roots, leaves and flowers. We can also add suitable bird and animal sculptures to complete the effect and boost the impact of an artificial tree indoors.
If you want to bring a sense of nature’s wonder into your interior or exterior space, we can design and construct any shape, size or type of artificial tree, and even supply animals to go with it!
